TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Drivers on the northwest side should give themselves a little extra time, or plan to use a different route, as crews work to repave a busy intersection.
Crews are putting down new pavement in most of the intersection of North Shannon and West Magee roads.
The location is where three streets, Magee, Shannon and West Cortaro Farms Road meet in a four-way intersection just east of Thornydale.
For those who have driven through that area before, they know that extra time is needed, but today they might need even more.
Northbound Shannon and southbound Magee are closed, and drivers can expect delays and re-routes all day until the pavement dries.
The work is the latest step in a long-term project of improvements that include widening from two to four lanes, building a median, and adding bike lanes and sidewalks. All of this work is to better the road between North Thornydale and North Oracle roads.
The paving work is expected to last until 6 p.m. this evening.
