Dan Bronis, Meteorologist

Dan joined the First Alert weather team in May of 2013 as the weekend and fill-in meteorologist.  He dreamed of forecasting weather in Arizona ever since he fell in love with the monsoon years ago while living in the Valley of the Sun.  Although originally born in Chicago, Dan spent a little time in Salt Lake City as a kid. He calls Phoenix his home as he went to high school and college there.  He graduated from Arizona State in 2009 with a bachelors in Meteorology/Climatology.  Yes he is a Sun Devil fan, but he promises not to let that get in the way of the Wildcats except maybe when they go head-to-head.

After graduating college he landed his first job in Sioux Falls, SD at KDLT as the weekend meteorologist.  There he learned a lot about severe weather and how to forecast winter storms. After a year in South Dakota he landed his next job in the Quad Cities (Davenport, IA; Bettendorf, IA; Moline, IL and Rock Island, IL) as a meteorologist at Independent News Network.  During his time in Iowa he became very familiar with weather across the country as he forecasted for cities around the United States from the east coast to the west coast.  Now he is excited to forecast weather where he grew up. Dan has a passion for Arizona's summer and winter extremes.

In his free time you will probably find Dan enjoying a hike up Mount Lemmon, biking the foothills or just outside enjoying the sunshine Arizona offers.  He loves taking vacations. Name the location and he'll go; but some of his favorite spots are Hawaii, northern Minnesota, or the mountains (anywhere really). He does love to ski. He's not an expert but will challenge himself with black diamonds occasionally.  You can contact Dan at dbronis@tucsonnewsnow.com or find him on Facebook or Twitter for the latest weather updates.
