Law enforcement students to graduate Friday

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Pima County Sheriff'sDepartment will hold a graduation ceremony for its Basic Law EnforcementTraining Academy, class of 2013, on Friday, May 31 at 10 a.m.

Twenty-two graduates will berecognized at the ceremony at the Pima Community College West campus in theProscenium Theater.

The 20-week process to become acertified law enforcement officer includes theoretical and practicalinstruction, defensive tactics, driver's training, firearms training, amongother types.

Nineteen graduates will becomedeputies, two officers will be with the Oro Valley Police Department and oneofficer with the United States Air Force Security Police/ Reserve Deputy forthe Pima County Sheriff's Department.

The graduatesrange in age from 21 to 46, and have a variety of professional backgrounds, to include an archeologist, an insurance salesman and several formermilitary members.
