Former TPD officer in court today to learn charges

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - In just hours a former Tucson Police officer will be in court, accused of having child pornography.

Martin Ward was arrested last month and faces a charge of sexual exploitation of a minor.  Inside Pima County Court, 29-year-old Martin Ward will hear what charges he is officially facing.

Martin Ward served with TPD for six years before being fired last summer after his girlfriend filed several restraining orders against him.

The investigation to child porn charges started when police found an explicit video of an underage girl that was traced back to Ward's computer.

He was arrested last month, and police are looking for evidence in everything from computers, cameras, hard drives and cell phones.

Detectives also say that Ward's live-in girlfriend called Sheriff's deputies after finding Ward in an internet chat room where people were 'speaking of having sexual relations with a 4-year-old female.'

Ward will be in court today at 1 p.m.
