Tonto National Forest will be offering a fee-free day Saturday in celebration of National Get Outdoors Day.
Normally, a Tonto Pass is required at more than 50 recreation sites in and around the Salt and Verde River locations, such as boat launch ramps, swimming areas and day use areas.
On Saturday, day-use fees will be waived at all of these standard amenity fee sites. Camping and campground fees will not be waived.
The remaining 2013 fee-free days for Tonto National forest include Sept. 28 and Nov. 9 through 11.
"Your national forests and grasslands are a bargain any day of the year, but even more so on fee-free days," said U.S. Forest Service Chief Tom Tidwell. "Whether you stay for a few hours or a few days, your public lands are some of the best travel bargains in the nation."
