TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Sierra Vista Police Department responded to a call of a shoplifter at a local Kmart and ended up arresting the suspect on drug charges.
According to the Sierra Vista Police Department, Christopher John Darr, 27, tried to avoid officers when they arrived at the scene in the 2000 block of E. Fry Boulevard on May 31.
During the chase, officers noticed Darr threw an object into some bushes, which appeared to be a gun. Upon further investigation, a gun was found and Darr was arrested.
Following the arrest, officers searched Darr's person and discovered drug paraphernalia and marijuana. Darr was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm in the commission of a drug offense, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and shoplifting.
Based on an investigation that commenced on April 30, Darr was also charged with burglary, stemmed from an incident in the 1300 block of Quail Run Drive. Darr is being held on a $150,000 bond and was booked into the Cochise County Jail.
