Mario Enriquez trial begins first day with jury selection

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Today the case of a 74-year-old man who was found shot and killed inside his south side home is scheduled to go to trial.  Willam Herr was found dead back in 2010. 

It took police more than a year to identify a suspect.  Mario Enriquez scheduled to be in Pima County Superior court to face a murder charge today. 

26-year-old Mario Enriquez is suspected of the 2010 murder of William Herr, who was found dead in his home from a gunshot wound. 

Neighbors said Herr was a nice, helpful man who lived with his adult son at the time.  For a while police did not reveal a motive or a suspect; six months after the murder Tucson Police said they had their suspect. 

Mario Enriquez was arrested and charged with first degree murder and burglary charges.  He has been in Pima County Jail for more than two years and today will be in the courtroom as the trial begins.

Today is expected to be taken up with jury selection.
