NOGALES, AZ (CBS5) -

Federal officers arrested two U.S. citizens on charges of attempting to smuggle $378,000 worth of methamphetamine into the U.S.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers referred the men, ages 29 and 26, for an additional inspection of their SUV when they attempted to cross the border.

A CBP narcotics detection K-9 alerted to the presence of drugs inside of all four doors. Officers removed 16 packages of crystal meth that weighed a total of 24 pounds.

The drugs and vehicle were processed for seizure. Both men were referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
