New CEO emerges in Arizona nonprofit

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse has named a new CEO.

Ed Mercurio-Sakwa has served the organization in various capacities and will now provide fiscal, strategic and operational leadership for one of Arizona's largest domestic abuse agencies.

He previously served as Emerge! Director of Program Operations and Chief Operating Officer since 2008. His most recent non-profit work was promoting youth activism and leadership at the Every Voice in Action Foundation.

He graduated from Cholla High School and The University of Arizona. Mercurio-Sakwa earned his Master of Business Administration at James Madison University and worked as executive director for two domestic violence programs before returning to Tucson in 1997.
