TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - TheHouse voted Tuesday in favor of a bill which addresses the backlog in veterans' healthcare.
The H.R. 2216, FY 2014 Military Construction/VA Appropriationsbill provides funding to the VA and many measures to combat thebacklog.
According to a news release, Congressman Ron Barber voted in support of the bill. Barber has introduced and cosponsored multiple bills in support of veterans, according to the release.
"We cannot allow themen and women who have served in our armed forces to be left behind when theyreturn to civilian life," Barber said. "That is why I was pleased to vote for legislationtoday that will add disability claims processors to the VeteransAdministration, fund the conversion of paper records to electronic records anddevelop an integrated health record system for the Department of Defense andthe Veterans Administration. We must eliminate the backlog at the VA and thislegislation is a step in the right direction as our country moves to ensurethat veterans get the benefits they have earned and without delay."
