Happening later today the group most outspoken against a major copper mine plan is rallying support again.
The Rosemont Mine could be months from construction, but not if the group gets its way. Some may believe the Rosemont Copper Mine is close to a done deal, but that is not keeping one group from standing up against the plan.
Save the Scenic Santa Ritas is hosting a meeting this evening in Green Valley. SSSR will be giving an update on where the mine's progress stands today. In the past the group has been vocal in challenging Rosemont, saying there would be major damage to air and water quality.
The group is currently appealing two of the mine's permits saying those appeals are under review.
Asked if they would appeal any coming permits, SSSR's president said, "We'll have to see." She believes the work in the past has been poorly done.
Again their informational event is happening at 7 p.m. tonight, at Quail Creek.
