TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Later this morning researchers will release new details about deaths related to those crossing the border illegally.
It is a joint effort by the U of A and the Pima County Medical Examiner's Office.
Researchers at the U of A have been collecting data for over 20 years. The report expects to answer key questions about the large number of migrants dying out in the desert, as they try and cross illegally into the U.S. They will release the report this morning with information on more than 2,000 migrants who have died crossing the border since 1990.
The data collected also focuses on factors changed over time with different border enforcement strategies. Researchers looked at how people are dying when they try to cross the border and how they are being identified.
The report will be released at 10 a.m. this morning.
