The summer heat has hit the Valley and people aren't the only ones looking for places to stay cool.
Brian Hughes is the owner of Rattlesnake Solutions. He told CBS 5 News the triple-digit temperatures have snakes slithering into peculiar places.
"They're really trying to get out of the way. That means they are tucked in the back of garages, in storage units and in your pool equipment that they normally go into anyway, but they're really going in deep and they're staying there," said Hughes.
This time of year Hughes responds to between three and six calls a day.
A couple days ago he captured a 5-foot diamondback rattlesnake hanging out by garbage cans in the parking lot of a North Phoenix hotel.
"He's one of the largest diamondbacks I've seen out here," said Hughes.
He has seen quite of few gopher snakes too. He captured one last night underneath a man's hot tub.
"One of the reasons people confuse them for diamondbacks is because they have a striped tail. They'll actually shake this tail and it'll make a sound if it's in leaves and grass," said Hughes.
Hughes said if you see a snake you should stay away from it. The safest thing you can do is call someone to handle it or just leave it alone.
Rattlesnake Solutions takes calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The phone number is 480-237-9975.
Snake removal costs between $80 to $150.
