Summer is scorpion season

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Scorpions are most active in the summer months when they have plenty of insects to feed on, and pest experts say they have had a busy season already.

Seven scorpions were caught in less than three minutes in Sahuarita Tuesday night.

Experts say if you keep their food source away, they will stay away.

Crickets are like a dinner bell to them, so reducing the crickets is going to reduce the scorpion attraction. Sealing up your home is the most important measure to take because as homes age and the weather strips, they shrink, get brittle and scorpions can squeeze through a very tight area.

While scorpions can be very dangerous, especially to the young and old, officials say no one has died from a bite in Arizona since the 1960s.
