A Phoenix homeless shelter is making more beds available to help minimize the risk to the Valley's homeless from the excessive summer heat.
Central Arizona Shelter Services said it is implementing its emergency response program and will provide additional bed space at its downtown single adult facility on the Human Services Campus, 230 S. 12th Ave.
Irene Agustin, director of fund development for CASS, said the response kicked in Thursday night after the National Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning.
