A single vehicle collision has left a motorcyclist in critical condition at the University of Arizona Medical Center.
Witnesses say high speed was a factor in the crash in the 5500 block of W. Overton Road on Thursday night.
Foothills District deputies found the motorcyclist just after 5 p.m. and discovered that he had numerous broken bones. He was conscious and being treated by the Mountain Vista Fire Department before being transported to the hospital.
Witnesses say he was attempting to turn from Hartman Road to eastbound Overton Road when he hit a curb and lost control of the vehicle. The motorcycle left the roadway and flipped for approximately 200 feet before crashing through a chain-linked fence at Degrazia Elementary School.
Officials say alcohol does not appear to have been a factor and the investigation was ongoing.
