WALTON, KY (FOX19) -

A driver was flown to the hospital after a crash late Tuesday night in Walton.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. in the 10,000 block of U.S. 25. The crashed caused the roadway to be closed for approximately two hours and knocked out electric power in the area.

Michael Bowmer, 24 of Florence, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe southbound on Dixie Highway when he failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway.  Bowmer exited the roadway and collided with two utility poles, splitting one in half causing live wires to fall across his vehicle.

First responders had to wait for the power to be shut off to the wires on the Tahoe before they extricated Bowmer.  He was then flown by Air Care to University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.  His present condition is unknown.

The collision is being investigated by the Boone County Sheriff's Office.  There are no preliminary indicators at this time.
