ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Texas Rangers second baseman and leadoff hitter Ian Kinsler has been cleared to begin a rehabilitation assignment.
Kinsler, out since May 18 with bruised ribs, went through a full workout with the Rangers before Wednesday night's game against Cleveland. He took batting practice and did defensive drills with no problems.
The Rangers say Kinsler will play at least three games for Double-A Frisco. He will be the designated hitter Thursday night, then play at least two games in the field.
Kinsler had a setback earlier in his recovery when he had a stress reaction in the same area on his right side that was initially hurt. But he has gone through different drills three consecutive days without any issues.
