DHL cut the ribbon on its newly expanded global super hub at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport on Thursday morning.
The event marked the culmination of a $105 million, four-year effort to meet the growing international shipping demands for companies large and small.
DHL's principal hub at CVG connects over 100 service centers and international gateways in DHL's International network in the U.S. The location also acts as a gateway for shipments to and from international locations.
The hub opened at CVG in 1983 and expanded the facility in 2003. Since the expansion, DHL has invested approximately $272 million in the facility.
The facility contains state-of-the-art technology. The semi-automated facility is suited for DHL's current U.S. volume of international shipment levels with the capacity to further increase volumes.
The facility includes four-miles of conveyor belts and employs approximately 2,000 employees.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the newly expanded facility at 9:00 a.m. FOX19's Scott Schneider will bring you live updates throughout the morning on the FOX19 Morning News.
