TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson Police have arrested a man in connection with a sexual assault that took place nearly 13 years ago.

Police say they found 45-year-old Ramon G. Trujillo in Tucson based on a match with DNA in the CODIS database and DNA collected from the victim of a sexual assault in August of 2000.

Police discovered the DNA match in the database two months ago.

Trujillo has been arrested and charged with one count of sexual assault.

In 2005, TPD was notified that the male DNA from the 2000 case matched DNA that had been associated with another sexual assault case in Phoenix.

The source of the DNA remained unidentified until police discovered the match two months ago.
