TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - New security measures are being put in place at Tucson's City Hall today.
It will be much more like coming into a courthouse when visitors come to City Hall. Now visitors will only be allowed to enter through the North Lobby.
When visitors come in, there will be a Tucson Police officer to screen people and their bags. There are reports that a metal detector will be installed along with more cameras and security staff.
In February, TPD assigned an officer to protect the mayor. These added measures going into place this morning are an effort to keep City Hall, which is a very high-profile building, safe for everyone who works and does business there.
