TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Police say a man who allegedly shot a man to death Sunday afternoon was arrested by Pima County Sheriff's Department deputies.
James Lee Derrington, 32, was taken into custody by deputies who found him walking out of a desert area near North La Cholla Road and West Ruthrauff Road.
Derrington was booked into the Pima County Jail and charged with one count of first-degree murder in the shooting death of a man at 50 West King Road near North Stone Avenue and East Prince Road.
The victim's identity has not been released.
According to a Tucson Police Department news release, Derrington and a woman had an argument with the victim and another woman while at a store on North Oracle Road at about 4:30 Sunday afternoon.
Police say the victim and the woman he was with left when they saw that Derrington had a rifle.
According to police, Derrington and the other woman followed the pair to 50 West King Road and Derrington allegedly shot the victim in the car he had been driving. The victim's passenger had already exited the car.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
