Inmate allegedly killed at state prison

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Arizona Department of Corrections reports an inmate was killedat the state prison in Buckeye today.

Officials say 63-year-old John Jones was administered CPRbefore being transported to West Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced deadfrom an apparent homicide.

Jones was housed in ASPC-Lewis in Buckeye since March 23,2000 to serve 40 years for sexual assault, aggravated assault and kidnapping.He was sentenced out of Yavapai County.

Thedepartment's criminal investigation unit and the county medical examiner'soffice continue the investigation.
