Four people have been arrested for holding a mother and her child captive for years in Ashland.

According to the charges, the suspects used beatings, threats of death and threats of attacks from pit bulls and large snakes to hold a woman and her child against their will for two years.
ASHLAND, OH (WOIO) -

19 Action News has learned that the 29-year-old Ashland, Ohio mom who claims to have been held captive for years in home was sentenced to 150 days in jail in February for beating her daughter.

The FBI says Daniel J. Brown, one of four suspects arrested this week on forced labor charges tells them the video beating was staged.

Officials say Brown, Jordie Callahan and his girlfriend Jessica Hunt staged the captive mom's beating of her daughter at Callahan and Hunt's house in Ashland.

In a criminal complaint Brown tells investigators that Callahan told Brown to strike the little girl but Brown refused but instructed the mom to hit the child.

All Three captured mom beating her own child on their cell phones.

They used the video to threaten mom and told her if she tried to run or contact the police they would hand over the beating to the cops and she would lose her child.

Mom and daughter according to investigators were starved, beaten and threatened with snake and pit bull attacks.

Mom would be sent to the Circle K down the street to shop but had a 10 minute window to get back or get beaten. She was not allowed to take her child with her.

Mom is mentally challenged after suffering a brain injury when she was 16.

A fourth suspect in the case, Dezerah Silsby, 21, turned herself into authorities on the charge of forced labor late Wednesday afternoon.

Silsby is scheduled to appear before Judge Vecchiarelli Thursday at 2 p.m. in federal court.

Jordie Callahan's attorney has already stated to 19 Action News that the mom was a roommate of his client and could come and go as she pleased.  He says the charges are ludicrous.
