One dead, one injured in reported early morning east side shooting

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

One man is dead and another isinjured following a reported eastside shooting early Monday.

Operations Division East officersreceived a report of a shooting and responded to a residence in the 5700 blockof E. 28th Street just after 12:30 a.m., police say.

Two vehicles were spotted leavingthe scene as officers arrived. Police stopped the vehicles at 28thStreet and Sahuaro Avenue.

Ricky Campbell, 18, was found inone vehicle with gunshot trauma and a 25-year-old was in the other vehicle,also suffering a gunshot wound. The Tucson Fire Department arrived on scene totreat them.

The two injured men weretransported to a local hospital; Campbell had life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead atthe hospital just before noon.

Other occupants were in thevehicles and they stayed at the scene with detectives for questioning.

Gang Detectives continue work onthe ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or88-CRIME.
