TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

One man is dead and another is injured following a reported eastside shooting early Monday.

Operations Division East officers received a report of a shooting and responded to a residence in the 5700 block of E. 28th Street just after 12:30 a.m., police say.

Two vehicles were spotted leaving the scene as officers arrived. Police stopped the vehicles at 28th Street and Sahuaro Avenue.

Ricky Campbell, 18, was found in one vehicle with gunshot trauma and a 25-year-old was in the other vehicle, also suffering a gunshot wound. The Tucson Fire Department arrived on scene to treat them.

The two injured men were transported to a local hospital; Campbell had life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital just before noon.

Other occupants were in the vehicles and they stayed at the scene with detectives for questioning.

Gang Detectives continue work on the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
