Tucson Police are investigating a shooting that happened in midtown early this morning.

Residents of Bella Vista Townhomes, near Grant and Country Club, called 911 to report hearing shots.  According to witnesses at the complex nearly 20 shots were heard.

When police arrived they found one man had been shot in the leg.  According to TPD the man had been shot by a security guard for the townhomes. The security guard was not shot or injured during the shooting, according to TPD and has not been arrested.

Detectives with Tucson Police were on the scene for about four hours, talking to witnesses and gathering evidence, closing off a portion of the street and a parking lot.

Neighbors are saying that police officers have become a common sight around the complex lately, and that as of a few weeks ago the security guards had begun arming themselves.
