Walmart opens hiring center for new El Con Mall location

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Walmart plans to hire approximately 280 associates to work at its new location planned for the El Con Mall this fall.

The center is open at 7225 E. Broadway, Suite 150, which is located about a block east of the mall. Applications will be accepted from 8a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.,Wednesday; and from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday.

Through Walmart's Veterans WelcomeHome Commitment, the company will offer a job to any qualified veteran who has been honorably discharged within the past 12 months.  (Veterans must be within 12 months of active duty and meet Walmart's standard hiring criteria.) The store will be hiring both full- and part-time associates. 

The majority of new associates will begin work in July to help prepare the store for its grand opening.

    It’s an unusual site at Saguaro national Park East. There are several cars lined up along Freeman Street and the entrance gate to the park is closed and locked. All due to the government shutdown. The park is allowing visitors to hike or ride a bike on the trails.

    More than 2,600 Tucson Electric Power customers have their power back on Saturday evening. The majority of the customers had it returned before 5:00 p.m., with roughly 250 others seeing the restoration before 7:00 p.m.
