TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Vail registered voters will determine in a November election if the town will be incorporated.
The Pima County Recorder's Office confirmed that The Citizens of Vail committee collected 1,027 valid signatures, hundreds more than the required 717 signatures needed to hold an election on November 5.
According to the Pima County Board of Supervisors, the election must be held within 180 days under state statute.
The proposed area of incorporation is smaller than the Vail School District by nearly 23,000 voters.
The last incorporation election took place in 2001 for the attempted incorporation of Casas Adobes.
