TUCSON –The University of Arizona Wildcat track and field team program earned another honor for work in the classroom on Wednesday. Former Wildcat Edgar Rivera-Morales was named a Capital One Academic All-American for the second-straight year.
Rivera-Morales is the only Wildcat to make the men's or women's three teams. In 2012, he was third-team honoree. Rivera-Morales graduated from Arizona with a degree in industrial engineering and a cumulative GPA of 3.58. Rivera-Morales earned first-team NCAA All-America honors during the 2013 indoor and outdoor seasons as a high jumper. He won his third Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championship during the indoor season and his first Pac-10/12 Championship during the outdoor season. However, Rivera-Morales did earn All-Pac-10/12 honors each of his four seasons at Arizona in the men's high jump. He leaves Arizona with the indoor school record, a mark of 7-5 (2.26m). His outdoor personal-best mark of 7-5.75 (2.28m) is tied for the No. 2 mark in school history.
