Possible Catalina Highway traffic delays after hazardous materials fire

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Fire crews responded to a hazardous materials fire in a vehicle on Catalina Highway this afternoon.

Capt. Grant Cesarek with the Rural/Metro Fire Department says a fire began in the axles of a Cummings Plumbing truck, but crews were able to extinguish the flames before they spread through the contents of the tank.

There may still be traffic delays near the first mile post on Catalina Highway where the vehicle is being removed.

There were no reported evacuations and no product spilled, Cesarek said.
