The new Kenton County Emergency Communications Center is now open.
The project first broke ground in January, and now Kenton County officials celebrated its completion with an official ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday.
The county spent about $500,000 for the 27,000-square-foot expansion to the existing communication center. The multi-agency dispatch center serves the cities of Independence, Taylor Mill, Fairview, Ryland Heights, Kenton Vale, and the unincorporated areas of Kenton County.
Funding is provided by 911 surcharges and the Kenton County Fiscal Court.
Kenton County Emergency Communications Center is located at 11777 Madison Pike in Independence.
