Metro and Franklin police are chasing a one-man crime wave.
Police say the suspect, seen here in the attached photo, robbed four stores in the course of six hours on Monday.
At 12:10 p.m., the suspect entered Dollar Deals at 2710 Old Lebanon Road in Nashville, pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded that he open the register, police said. The clerk replied that the manager would have to do that, to which the suspect uttered an expletive and fled the building.
At 3 p.m., the suspect is believed to have traveled to Franklin, where he robbed an employee of Two Corporate Center, a Cool Springs high-rise. An employee was sitting in his car during a break when the gunman approached him and demanded money, police said. The victim complied, and the suspect fled on foot.
At 5 p.m., the suspect approached a woman at an ATM in the parking lot of a grocery store at 3636 Bell Road in Antioch. Police said he demanded money and showed the victim the pistol in his waistband. The victim told the gunman that her card was not working with that particular ATM, prompting him to flee the scene.
At 5:40 p.m., an employee of Joy Cleaners at 450 Donelson Pike was in the rear of the business when the suspect entered through the back door. Police said he displayed his pistol and demanded money. The victim showed the suspect that his wallet was empty. The gunman ordered the victim to walk to the front counter. As they did, the employee quickly told a customer to call 911, prompting the suspect to flee, again empty-handed.
"The fact that he did this four times in one day shows desperation and makes us want him even more," said Franklin Police Lt. Charles Warner.
The suspect is described as a black man who wore a red and white long-sleeved shirt, khaki shorts and a dark cloth over part of his face. He is about 5'10" tall and weighs about 175 pounds.
"We want the community to want this guy off the streets as badly as we do. So, anyone who knows who he is, who either recognizes the shirt, if you know who he is, help us get him off the street," Warner said.
