Child, 2, found wandering alone; uncle charged

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Police had to go door-to-door looking for the guardian of a 2-year-old boy that was found wandering by himself.

The incident occurred at the James A Cayce Homes on South Eighth Court.

The toddler was found walking alone in a diaper and a shirt, but no one could figure out where he belonged.

After knocking on every door, police found the child's uncle, identified as 29-year-old Richard Shye.

Police said Shye was supposed to be watching his nephew while his sister was at work. He was charged with child neglect.
