Woman wakes up to home invader standing over her

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro police are investigating a home invasion Tuesday morning at an apartment complex in Antioch.

The incident occurred around 5 a.m. at the Chimney Top Apartments located at 100 Chimneytop Drive.

The resident said she woke up and found the home invader, described as a black man in his 20s, standing over her with a flashlight.

When she screamed, the man punched her in face.  She said he then grabbed items from the apartment and fled the scene.

Police don't think she knows the attacker.  The victim may have left a door unlocked, which allowed the attacker to gain access.

A K-9 is currently searching the area.  At 6 a.m., several officers are on the scene.
