It's almost time to hop the flight to Barcelona.
The four members of the Tucson Ford Aquatics swim team who will compete in the 2013 FINA World Aquatics Championships later this month in Spain are wrapping up stateside preparations for the event.
Among them, the two Kevins, Kevin Steel and Kevin Cordes, both Arizona Wildcats and both strong U.S. hopefuls in the breaststroke event.
Steel set the U.S. Open record (twice) in the 50-meter event last month at the World Championship Trials. The Moorestown, N.J. native did so with a time of 27.26.
Cordes finished second to Steel in that event but not to be outdone took first place in the 100 and 200-meter breaststroke events.
Matt Grevers (Northwestern) and Christine Magnuson (Tennessee) round out the Ford Aquatics team. Grevers won the 100-meter backstroke gold at the short course World Championships last December as well as the Olympic gold medal in London. He qualified second at World Champ Trials in Indianapolis in his main event, but won the 50-meter backstroke.
Magnuson won the 50-meter butterfly to earn her spot on Team USA.
The World Aquatics Championships begin on July 19th but most of the swimming event don't begin till the 28th.
