An unoccupied three-story house on Tucson's west side was destroyed by fire Monday morning.
According to the Tucson Fire Department, the house in the 800 block of West Green Street, near I-10 and West Starr Pass Boulevard was being remodeled.
Smoke from the fire could be seen from as far away as Rita Ranch on Tucson's southeast side.
When fire crews arrived shortly after 6 a.m., the house was heavily involved in flames, which combined with the concern that the house could collapse led to the decision to fight the fire from the outside.
Several nearby houses were evacuated as a precaution as the fire department tried to keep the fire from spreading to the other houses.
The house is considered a total loss, but there are no dollar estimates on the damages.
Tucson Fire officials announced Thursday it was human-caused and the case has been turned over to the Tucson Police Department's arson investigators.
Initial reports are that no one was injured in the fire.
