Banks officials planning for 2015 All-Star Game in Cincinnati - Tucson News Now

Prep work begins for 2015 All-Star Game in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The cheers were loud in January when Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig officially announced Cincinnati as the host city of the 2015 All-Star Game.

Already, the prep work has begun.

"We're looking at everything from painting, to signage, just making sure we progress the county and the city to put our best foot forward," said Doug Healy, Cincinnati Reds CFO.

There will be noticeable differences around Cincinnati for the All-Star Game, including plans to build a 200 room hotel at the corner of Joe Nuxhall Way and Freedom Way.

Banks officials say they're in talks with potential developers.

In 2015, Smale Riverfront Park will look different too with more playground areas and a multi-million dollar carousel set to be complete in May of 2015.

"We sure hope to see Smale Riverfront Park, downtown waterfront and the carousel featured on all those images on the national news when they show the All-Star Game," said Steve Schuckman with the Cincinnati Parks Department.

The All-Star Game can be seen on FOX19 at 8 p.m on Tuesday.
