Boy struck by sheriff's deputy vehicle, succumbs to injuries

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A 10-year-old boy who was reportedly struck by a Pima County Sheriff's deputy vehicle on Tucson's south side has succumbed to his injuries at the University of Arizona Medical Center. 

According to the sheriff's department, Deputy Jesus Verduzco was traveling en-route to a service call when he reportedly hit the boy at S. Campbell Avenue and Wyoming around 4:45 p.m. Monday.

The boy was transported to UAMC with severe injuries, according to the Tucson Fire Department. His family has been notified of his passing.

Campbell remains closed from Irvington south to East Bantam Road. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
