Trico could take several days to repair downed power poles

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Power poles are down, but power has been restored to Avra Valley.

Trico is reporting as many as 34 power poles are down in the area, and as many as 2,000 people were without power after last night's storms. Trico crews worked through the night and around midnight power was restored to those homes.

There are, however, still power poles down along a two mile stretch of Anway Road, from Magee to Avra Valley Road. Trico is saying it could take several days to repair the power poles; power has been turned off to the downed power lines, so the road is open to traffic. Those who use the road are advised that delays could happen while repairs are made to the poles.

Avra Valley was not the only area without power. Tucson Electric Power reported some 600 homes earlier this morning were without power, also due to the overnight storms. That power has since been restored, according to TEP officials, thanks in part to no downed power poles or lines.
