An 18-year-old Tucson resident and a 14-year-old Mexican national living in Tucson are in custody, after attempting to smuggle more than $114,000 worth of marijuana through the Port of Douglas.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers said they referred a pickup truck for an additional inspection on Monday.
Officers were aided by a CBP narcotics detection K-9. They located 42 packages of marijuana, weighing nearly 225 pounds, in the undercarriage of the vehicle, CBP officials said.
The teens were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations. The drugs and vehicle were seized.
