TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A fast-spreading wildfire is still heating up California's Mountain Center.

Hundreds of firefighters are working to extinguish raging flames between "Mountain Center" and "Idyllwild" Tuesday evening as the fire spreads and scorches more than eight thousand acres.

Crews are also battling dry and windy conditions. The fire is about ten percent contained.

Mandatory evacuations are underway for dozens of homes in the area. Evacuation centers have been set up at two nearby high schools, and an animal evacuation site is at the San Jacinto animal shelter.
