LOS ANGELES (WIS) -

It has already gone down as one of the biggest plays in college football history, and now ESPN has further cemented "The Hit" by awarding it "Best Play" of last year.

Jadeveon Clowney was given the award at the annual ESPY Awards, the sports network's annual gala for professional and amateur athletes.

If you know about "The Hit", then feel free to gloss over this part since you know exactly what it is.

"The Hit" refers to the devastating collision/crash/smash/explosion between Clowney and Michigan running back Vincent Smith at the 2013 Outback Bowl.

Clowney hit Smith so hard, the Michigan helmet flew off Smith's head and landed several feet away.

Smith also fumbled the ball, which gave the Gamecocks the ball back at a crucial time during the game.

The Gamecocks would go on to beat the Michigan Wolverines 33-28.

In the last two seasons, college football's premier award has gone to players who had never taken a single snap in a college game prior to the start of their Heisman-winning seasons. This year, it could happen again.
