Tucson Firefighters are working to clean up the scene of an early morning building fire at 22nd and Wilmot. Several 911 calls were made, including one from an off-duty dispatcher, all reported seeing smoke and flames around 3:45 a.m.
Crews inside the restaurant reported no flames inside the structure, stating the fire was contained to the attic space above the kitchen. Holes were cut in the roof to vent the fire, according to TFD officials. It took nine units and 23 firefighters, seventeen minutes to put out the flames, according to TFD officials.
No injuries to firefighters were reported.
There is no official cause of the fire yet, according to TFD officials one investigator will remain on scene, waiting for the building to cool before finishing their investigation.
