Suspect in May Walmart shooting due in court today

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson Police detectives say a man is in custody this morning, after shooting and killing a man back in May.

Tucson News Now first brought this story to viewers about a death at a midtown Walmart, as late breaking news.  The suspect, Jeremy Davis, had been on the run for two months before being caught and put behind bars.

He refused to come out of an apartment yesterday, when U.S. Marshals showed up to arrest him.  This led to a tense stand-off with Tucson Police's SWAT team.  This was on Tucson's east side near 22nd and Camino Seco, the stand-off ended two and half hours later when Davis finally surrendered.

According to Tucson Police, Davis is the suspect wanted in connection to the death of a man who was shot back in May.  TPD is saying Davis allegedly got into a fight with the victim, Ricky Lomax, later shooting and killing Lomax.   At the time of the shooting, TPD suspected it was gang related.

Court records show that Jeremy Davis has, in the past, been arrested for drug charges.

He is expected to appear in court later this morning.
