TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The U.S. Forest Service will be burning wood piles in the Catalinas on Monday if weather permits.
Smoke from these fires may be visible from Tucson and other areas adjacent to the Santa Catalina Mountains.
The burning will take place in an area of 10 acres around Spencer Canyon and Mt. Bigelow, which has received four to six inches of rain in the past two weeks.
The wood piles are comprised of material generated by forest thinning efforts, which are a way of reducing potential fuel for wildfires.
