Traffic is still shut down in all directions at Alameda and Granada after a Sun Tran bus hit a pedestrian in a crosswalk around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
The intersection was closed for several hours as traffic investigators tried to figure out exactly what happened. They talked to several witnesses, including the bus driver.
The 63-year-old victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Tucson police officers say the Sun Tran bus was traveling west on Alamada, attempting to make a left turn. The victim was crossing Granada from east to west.
According to detectives, the Sun Tran bus stopped to yield to the pedestrian then at some point the driver continued on and hit the pedestrian.
The woman was stuck underneath the bus.
Detectives have not determined who's at fault, but say this is a learning lesson for us all.
