Police in Flagstaff are looking for the suspect in a reported sexual assault during the early morning hours and are investigating whether he's connected to two other recent sex assaults in Flagstaff.
Flagstaff Police Department spokesman Sgt. James A. Jackson said the victim reported being downtown Wednesday night drinking. She said sometime after 1:30 a.m. she began walking alone, heading north on Humphreys Street from the downtown area.
She said she was followed by a Native American man and she headed west on Cherry Avenue. The suspect followed her and she started running. The suspect caught her near Cherry and Kendrick and sexually assaulted her, according to police.
The victim described the man as between 5'10'' and 6'0'' tall, with his hair in a ponytail and wearing a gray shirt.
Earlier this week, police linked a sexual assault on July 21 to one that happened on Jan. 18.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety Crime Lab confirmed through DNA samples that the two cases have the same suspect.
Flagstaff police are working to find out if the most recent assault is also linked to the previous cases.
