Rural/Metro Fire Department responds to near drowning

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -



Rural/Metro Fire Department responded to it described as a non-fatal drowning involving a 3-year-old child, this morning.

The incident happened at 4250 N. Campbell Avenue.

According to Rural/Metro's PIO officer, Grant Cesarek, bystanders had pulled the child from the pool and initiated CPR. Reports state that the child was found floating face up in the pool and was unconscious.

Paramedics rushed the boy to UMC for definitive care. The child was breathing at the time of the transport.

Rural/Metro Fire Department reminds our community that any drowning is preventable. Follow the A, B, C's of water safety: Adult Supervision, Barriers Around Water and Classes, and CPR and Swim Classes.
