State releases AIMS results, school letter grades

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Arizona Department of Education released the 2013 AIMS Test results and A-F letter grades for Arizona schools and districts today.

According to a news release from the Department of Education, Arizona saw an increase of 1% over last year in students who passed the AIMS math and reading tests. 61% passed the math test and 78% passed reading.

In science, only 57% passed science and 56% passed writing.

63% of the state's schools received a letter grade of A or B. Overall, more than 300 schools saw an improvement of at least one letter grade.

    The Tucson Police Department is asking for the public's help locating 17-year-old Anthony Garcia. The teen is described as Hispanic, 5'10" tall, weighing 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Although he is in his late teens, according to the release, he has special needs and functions at a much younger age.
