Inmate captured and returned to jail

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Update: Pima County Sheriff's Deputies have detained a Pima County inmate after he failed to return to jail following a temporary leave Wednesday.

Jesus Banuelos with the Pima County Sheriff's Department said inmate Robert Nelson, 51, was released to his girlfriend for an appointment on July 31 and was court ordered to return to the Pima County Adult Detention Complex later that night.

He was still missing two hours after his projected return time and was deemed an escapee by Pima County Jail policy. After an annonymous tip, deputies found Nelson in the 3900 block of West Valencia Road.

Nelson is a pre-trial defendant, held on aggravated DUI/driving on a revoked or suspended license and failure to appear for aggravated DUI from 2012, according to a Pima County Sheriff's Department news release.

He was booked to the Pima County Jail booked on one cout of Escape Second Degree.
